Katniss has family and friends that support her. She lives in poverty, but can go hunting to keep her family feed and taken care of. Peeta on the other hand lives a middle class life style. When his name is picked for the Hunger Games his older brother doesn't step up to take his place. Also when Peeta makes a mistake his mother hits him. Who has a harder life Katniss or Peeta? Is it better to be loved and poor or rich and unloved?

I think that Peeta has the harder life. This really brings up a good point, though. A lot of times, people with lots of money and possessions aren't really happy. Take half of Hollywood for example. Britany Spears has everything she could ask for, but is she happy? No, because fame and money destroyed her life. Peeta's family isn't starving or poor, but there is no love. I would rather be loved and have nothing else then to feel lonely and rejected my whole life and have all the possessions in the world. Love is essential, money is not.
